Default Hide IP

What's people's experience with this?... particularly if your net conection isn't a static IP?

When I want it.... I want reliable privacy, and no headaches.... not a hobby.... I'm too old for that crap... and setting up a new machine is enough work already....

So how well does it work?.... Are there any tricks or "gotcha's" ? Is it better to run through an anon proxy?... There's got to be a ton of experience with that around here...

TIA

Well hiding an IP, depending on the reason you could get a spoofer which would display a "fictional" IP address for your system, but really all depends on your uses.

Mostly web privacy (like it's vital that no one knows I'm here....shhhhhh.... it's a secret),

and I have a bug up my *ss about not supporting "google analytics" and marketers in general

plus cloaking is certainly is much nicer for usenet (and safer --no mod's on usenet --so every personality disorder in the world who can type on WebTV can AND WILL show up))....

even for a lot of vendor email.... I use an annon proxy service (generally , sometimes I forget), but it'd be nice to not spend the money....

I use a wireless nework at home.... cable to the router, with no fixed IP... and I don't want to be dropped, or have connection issues with my ISP.... with the proxy, no prob.... but I don't know about running it off my own machine.

Well all i can say is not everyone secures their wireless network, and this is not good practice because people can use someone elses IP address to contact the internet

I live in a pretty densely packed urban area (San Francisco) and there must be 15 wireless networks within range of my desk at home..... Every one of them secured.... including mine.... I think you need to be (1) not real bright,or (2) using some pretty old equipment not have a secure home network

I just want a simple way to strip out all the information that can be harvested by going to a website.... Hit a page, someone grabs my IP, and my spam rate goes up... same thing with email.... I want them recipiant to have my selected domain addy, not my ISP and my location.

But I don't want to goof up my cable connection, home network....

I tried some free proxy servers, but (as expected) none were near as fast or reliable as the one I pay for.

That's probably the best idea.... I just see problems with "hide IP" and connecting to non-static IP addy's from my ISP.... better to connect directly to them, and then re-route

Thanks for the tip.... that looks pretty good..... it looks like I can easily use it with an anon proxy as well.... That'd be nice....

my GF basically shops for shoes on her machine.... and I just cleaned 250 spy worms off it...... 6 month old machine, WITH Spysweeper running, Zone alarm, and, SystemMecanic Pro.... with their antispy and Kaspersky.... so all that crap is all from store web pages... BTW.... that was with spyware detector

When I googled JAP, there were a lot of references to using it in conjunction with TOR..... anyone familiar with doing that? Any big advantage

But still.... no anon for p2p,

Try using AdMuncher for surfing. For P2P anonymosity try using a proxy with utorrent or azureus. Also, there is PeerGuardian 2 out if you want to block bad IP's, but it doesnt offer much in the way of protecting your IP to my knowledge.
