Default Restoring a Backup

Hey guys go another one for you,

I own an averatec laptop, which comes with a software called phoenix something, I cant remember the actual name. Wll anyways, there is no restore CD, its all on the hard drive. The phoenix software allows you to re-install windows if needed and set the laptop back to its original settings.

What happened was there was patch, or what somebody believe to be a patched (they didnt read the comments), but in acutallity, it was a file that would allow you to remove the phoenix software all together.

With this gone, I can's seem to reload windows. Is there a work around, Im sure the files are still on the hard drive. I hpoe I explained this well. Any help greatly appreciated.

Is your machine still bootable, and can you get on-line?... go to Averatec's web and see if you can download what you need under support.... if that fails, call and ask for a recovery CD

BTW:.... It pisses me off, this no-restrore CD included, business..... what happens if your drive gets a flaw in it..... I've had a thinkpads "rescue and recovery" partition get bunged..... and I bet it'd cost them all of a penny to burn a CD, pay a guy in china to throw it into a box as it comes down an assembly line.... and that counts building cost, equipment costs, wages and all --a penny...

But NOOOOOOOOO...... If you want CD's of your OS and drivers.... they are now considered an "Extra".... Lenovo wants $50.00 for a set.....

Greed is going to screw this country in the A**

Yeah there is nothing on there website, so it looks like I have to call them. Ill probably do it this weekend.

Yeah, I hate this no CD backup. I was thinking the same thing, if my hard drive ever craps out. I will totally be out of luck. Just another way to make money for them, they keep you coming back....
