Default Using REGEDIT on a separate disk

I've recently setup an XP machine after finally being dragged away from W98SE. I have my old disk with w98 and all the accoutrements as disk on my system at the moment.

Having reinstalled some software I own, I find i need the reg code from the old W98 registry.

Is there a way that I can access the old W98 registry on a separate disk from XP?

Thanks.

Well im unclear on the setup you have, you have the info saved to a physical disk or a disk (partition) on your hard drive ?

This is my setup:

C:\ Windows XP
D:\ Old Windows 98 disk
E:\ General Storage
F:\ CD-RW Drive

All separate physical drives/disks. No Partitions.

Does that help?

Default Re: Using REGEDIT on a separate disk

I'm not sure i have been clear.
disk 1 is drive c:\ and contains windows xp
disk 2 is drive d:\ and contains my old win98 installation.

I want to examine the win98 registry from within xp

i.e the machine boots from drive c:\ i want to view the registry on drive d:\

can this be done with a switch on regedit like regedit d:\ or something similar?

Im not sure if this could be done exactly i would try it, if you need to load 98 and run the reg edit put what you need into a text file save it to the C drive then edit the Reg on the C drive to meet your needs.
