Default Vista

Will Vista work with the new Core2 and Xenon Macs?

So far I heard that they will. At least Apple has stated that it is not going to thwart anyone for doing so. Macs running Windows... I must be seeing and hearing things. LOL.

Seems odd you would pay a premium for the Mac hardware and put windows on it. You must really like the looks of the Mac.

MacBooks dual boot right now..... XP or OS X..... you can walk into a store and buy one for under $1000, probably get an iPod thrown in, and a student discount

They don't run Windows in an emulator window anymore..... which (while faster and more reliable) is a bummer AFAIC and kinda defeats the whole purpose..... of primarily being in a Mac environment and running the windows apps you need in a Mac window --it's "either /or" now..... so --if you make your money in one... and spend most of your time there --why bother?.....

It's "faster than emulation", but I'm not going to shut down AutoCAD in XP and reboot just to check my email in MacOS... There's enough good third party UI software, ad-ins, and regedits, etc to make XP tolerable enough....

As far as "premium hardware"?...... I have a thinkpad T60p.... and yesterday I was at a job site, and someone came by, got their foot in the power cord, and almost pulled the machine off the workbench (a dirty piece of plywood balanced on a trash can --sitting on a concrete slab..... (fortuantely, Thinkpads have HD "air bags"... but surviving a straight 42" drop onto solid cement..... I dunno.....

Point is.... that never would have happened on a Mac..... I mean almost having a $3000 machine ripped off my "desk", (not the foot/cord catcher).... because they have those "magnetic power plugs"..... Say what you want about them, they're really smart in terms of interface and package design.

AND.... over in the Thinkpad Forums, a lot of people have OS X running on their thinkpads NOW!.... I don't think Apple is too happy about it.

hmmmmm

Since they went to Intel dual cores.... MacBooks can do out of the box, and people have dual booting thinkpads (XP/OS X)

On a Mac, XP doesn't run in "emulation" any more.... It's boot into one environment or the other..... Which makes it worthless IMO.... I might as well stay in whatever environment my main apps work in..... Same thing with a Thinkpad and OS X....

Interesting hobby.... huge time suck.... Low value pursuit ...
