We run a windows remote access vpn, which is working out pretty well for us. We'd like our users to be a little more careful about sharing usernames and passwords though. Users being users, we don't think we're going to do much to limit their somewhat sloppy ways, so we plan to implement a 2-factor solution. But, we don't want to spend much money it. Phone-based solutions seem like they might do the trick. Does anyone have any experiences with any of these?

I have used PhoneFactor. It's easy to set up and easy to manage. I won't have to go into the benefits of phone-based solutions, as you obviously aware of them. But PhoneFactor executes it's solution very well, and that is what every one looks for in anything.

I would recommend downloading it and trying it out. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Penny, it has worked out pretty well for us so far to secure our vpn. You read about laptops falling into the wrong hands every day and compromising data. I don't EVER want that to happen to us.

Good to hear about this, I don't you've ever used a SMS based 2-factor authentication, but this system is even better. As you don't have to have a SMS capable phone, also answer call, press button is a far faster work flow then - open text, look @ code, enter code. Not to mention wait for SMS to arrive.

I like it a lot more.
