Default If it wasn't Windows how many people would know how to use a pc or internet

although everybody say windows stinks linux is better (linux was better stil freebsd has some better network features that windows doesn't) you have to reconise that if it whasn't for windows maby 10% of the pc users would use a pc so windows make the world a better place.

true, but it does not change the fact that MS is still a monopolizing, greedy company that underminds it's competition and causes more security risks with it's buggy Browser and OS security flaws.

If it wasn't for Windows, spyware and viruses would have no reason to exist. Or would they?

If it wasn't for Windows all that people would still used a computer and knew internet, it may be mac os the OS that would done that, or linux or maybe another operating system, it hasn't been like that because of the windows monopoly

Well, I remember back in the day using MSDOS all the time. I HATED using Windows 3.1 so much that I took out the command line for it in autoexec.bat. I ran all my telnet programs (this was before the WWW becamse so popular) through DOS and enjoyed lots and lots of time on BBSes (remember those? hehe ).

Then I remember getting a new computer with Windows 95 on it. On the first day, I took out the command line for it from autoexec.bat, and I remember not being able to use anything (modem, etc.)! So, I had to take it back to the store and get a new one. hehe

Microsoft didn't just suddenly become a rich "monopoly". They reached the status they are at today because they know how to make a good product, and because people like their products. Windows, despite its flaws, is largely responsible for the immense popularity of computers and the internet.

If it wasn't Windows then it would be something else. If Windows hadn't come along then it would probably be Macs ruling the world and some other company fighting for second place.

I agree.... Gates was smart to just license DOS.... but he rode to success on IBM's back..... Computers were going to happen --no matter what.... and this was back at a time when "nobody ever got fired for buying IBM"..... and Business apps were the first use.... and --once they went off the mainframe-- they ran on DOS..... So people bought clones, etc.

Apple was dumb.... if they had licensed their OS, we'd all be using OS X now, instead of XP....

But computers and the internet were inevitable outgrowth of the coldwar.... regardless of the OS, it was going to happen.... Gates just got lucky (his rich and extremely well connected momma told him IBM was looking for an OS) and he went out and bought DOS from talented --but not "connected"-- guy for $50,000..... he didn't write it himself.....

Thank God for Melinda..... given Bill's always shown up as a totally self absorbed, ruthless monopolist rip off artist.... at least she's making him give away half his money if he wants to keep getting laid.... So "thanks Mel, for taking one for the team"....

Think about it.... you must really want to help the world if your willing to have sex with Bill
