How do proxy servers work? Where can I get one? Any other info i need?

Google open proxies. Edit them into your browser, close reopen and check your external ip.
hard to find a decent one that isnt bogged down.

Basically a proxy gives you a gateway to the net, just remember, your using someones setup, who knows what theyre logging on you.

What are you planning to do with your proxy? If its for security why not just run a firewall

If you mean proxy http server, just search in google for things like :

socks 4,5
http proxy
anonymous http proxy

in that u can see several public proxies...

You can also use online proxy services, where you visit the proxy website in your browser and vsit other sites through that. Hidemyass.com is a popular one. I run my own at Incognito.bz.

You do not want others to see ur IP?

You want protection from virus and trojans?

You do not want to others to connect to your IP?
