vista is a good alternative if you have a computer you never use, it is glitched up, and you want to wipe the OS

however, just for functionality purposes, im staying with XP.. i probably wont get vista until two years after its release when technology gets cheaper

design should be the main key of vista. they are introducing a new user panel and so many graphic cpu-wasting features

I'm not convinced yet. Until I fully use and function with Office 2007 and IE7, I see nothing really from Vista except for its major GUI overhaul.

Vista seems to only impress me with the new GUI and I'll wait on passing judgment until I use IE7 and Office 2007.

When abouts is Office 2007 set to be released?

IE7 is ok. I have the second beta version and it does have its glitches and I can't go back to the old one (or I just don't know how). But I've learned how to cope with it and I'm suited to it quite well.

IE7 is pretty good. It definitely has bugs, but have a very good implementation of the tabbed browser i am so used to in FireFox (my only reaon to still continue with FireFox). I also found it to be faster, but your mileage may vary.

Vista beta was available for download (not anymore) for a limited period of time. Anyway, you need patience to get it working at the Beta level due to driver issues and such.

Microsoft has provided an upgrade advisor for beta, u can see this here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...r/default.mspx

I found the GUI to be very slick and fantastic, definitely a step up from the present XP. You may need a good graphics card to get the best out of it, though.

A sneak preview of the UI is available here:
http://www.activewin.com/articles/2005/betavis.shtml

A virtual pressroom with tons of Info here (including soem tools for compatibility):
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/p...a/default.mspx

There are a lot of sites with Vista info, just google.
