Default Microsoft promises Vista Beta 2 for next year

Microsoft plans to ship beta 2 of its forthcoming Windows Vista operating system next year, the company said in a conference call with reporters.

Longhorn was the codename I think - like the GameCube's codename was Dolphin. Vista it's new name. A bad name, but a name.

anyway ive heard that the compatibily of the software is very strict, I mean you got to have past their new computer requirement before you ca install it.
You must have this some kind of mother board before you can use it
Is this true ?

Windows Vista Capable PC Requirements

Windows Vista Capable PCs need to pass the current certification requirements for Designed for Windows XP logo. In addition, these PCs would need the following combination of essential PC hardware for good overall Windows Vista performance:
•CPU — PC systems should have a modern CPU.
•RAM — PC systems should have 512MB of memory or more.
•GPU — PC systems should have a graphics processor that will support Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).

Windows is getting richer with this
