Default Please review my radio control toy site

I am new to web mastering, and have built a site named rccircle.com. Take a look at my home page. Home page of rccircle.com Supplying rc planes helicopters, trucks and more . I sell radio control planes, helicopter, gliders, trucks and will start to expand my inventory as soon as I get more visits. i recently cancelled my ppc because I got too few visits for the amount of money it cost. There has to be a better way to get targeted traffic to my site. I would like anyone to take a look at it and tell me what, if any, that I am doing wrong.

Hi Avitek!

My dad loves RC plane stuff.

I would say design your site more like an actual store. Make your main page like a store front and consider what it would be like as a stranger looking at it. Retail stores have displays in their windows to grab the attention of a passer by. Consider throwing in a blurb about what the site is about and why I should be going through it (in your case, great prices on RC planes and such)and maybe use some more fun colours (maybe borrowing colour schemes from some of the bright RC models themselves).

It seems like you can shrink your navigation bar down too and make better use of the space for showing off more pictures, descriptions, reviews or even testimonials.

I'd also try to stay consistant throughout the site. I noticed that clicking into an RC plane brings me to a different looking page but with your logo. (this would be a big job!)

I do like how you have reviews on all the products. It's a great idea and I think it has a lot of potential.

Sites like this are a big job, but once you have a foundation (which it seems you do with your store in working order) it's all a matter of tweaking!

Have fun with it and maybe check out other RC sites and stores to get some ideas from. Look for what you like and don't like about them and work your site around that.

Phew, I think i've said enough!

Cheers!

Thanks marky_mark,
I very much appreciate any and all help that I can get. My graditude for you taking the time to write a helpful response about my website. I will take your advise and revise my store front to match my intro page. You are right about making the site look like an actual store, because I have been thinking it looks a little empty.

Cheers buddie!!

No problem Avitek!

When/if you update the site, toss the URL into the forums, I'd like to see your progress!

Avitek,

I like your design, its pretty simple and straight forward. But you might want to optimize some of your pictures, this would allow your website to load much faster. You have to remember that if your site takes a while to load, this includes pictures, users will move on to another site.

Also your overall design might need a brush up, but that can be done in the future.

I also notice that you are using OScommerce, My take on this, is that it would probably be easier for you to use paypal, I am not sure if you are comfortable with paypal.

So
* optimize your images
* keep your navigation clean and if your going to sty with the OScommerce, try to blend it in with your website.

Need lots of work:
  • The logo needs better design
  • The design of the overall site is non-uniform
  • You only have English, why bother with Languages box?
  • Misspellings, no contact 1-800 numbers and/or email: I would not buy from seemingly illegitimate site.
