How do people get jobs working for the websites of cnn.com, aol.com, yahoo.com and places like that etc? I never see any advertisements for the jobs anywhere online. Do those sort of places only promote from the inside? It would be nice if I could get an internship doing design work for yahoo or aol.

Do you mean the writers or the website designers? They probably find a reputable company to run their servers and their website. I don't think they would wait for someone to come to them, but seek out a serious and reputable company to run the server and/or another company to run their website.

I think the big ones you mention have some area for careers on their site I don't think they advertise openings.

I have seen google run competitions for job openings. But you have to be a pretty savvy coder...

Yes, I was talknig about web designers. You're right too - They probably do spend millions of dollars looking for the best designers out there. Thank you for those links - I will look through those career sections nonetheless. Wish me luck.
