Not for profit homeless project new site

Hi,

Can I please have some critique on this site that I've built for a charity project for homeless people.

Durham Action on Single Housing

BTW the logo has to stay, as do the colours.

Erm well it has that charity feel to it, but i don't believe that is how sites should feel! (sorry if this comes out wrong)

you need to make your site background White or Grey and get rid of that black spec behind the menu and you must get rid of the menu images they make the site look cheap and tacky!

using a real picture for a header is always hard but it doesn't look to bad but having a real picture and a cartoon picture in the same area that don't even look like they go together is a definite NO NO!

try a lighter template i.e. make a new one and think on how you can structure it to make people want to stay!

for charity sites you have to think that bit harder and always use light colours never dark

Ok...thanks for your input dxlwebs, I've changed the background colour to a lighter colour. I've also changed the menu slightly as in I've made the buttons sit closer together and changed the text colour.

I'm not sure about the background though!!!

Hey graisbeck,

i had some spare time so i did this maybe you can get some ideas from it i just think its too dark and needs a bit more structure (picture below) i'm not saying you have to change your site design or do what i say but i really do think that something a bit more structured would benefit you more! p.s. this is very quick and basic i didnt want to change your design to much so this is just for you to get an idea on what i mean

I can see where your coming from with making the site lighter in colour.
I will certainly make some changes to the site keeping your ideas in mind.

By the way the "cartoon" logo has to stay.
