I want to make professional banners for web sites. I am planning to use mild colors which would give a professional look. I feel, attaching some text with top headers would add more to this effect. I like to have some suggestions from you guys to make my banners look more professional…..Thanx a ton!

It would help if you posted a link or two to see where your starting from. Hard to give general statements only to say that I think the more attention to small details you take, the more professional they will look.

I think generally if you use a white background with blue headers, it's an easy way to achieve a professional look. I would avoid a lot of the Web 2.0 black background with 3D highlights. Very unprofessional.
