Default Re: My Spyware Terminator

Last night, I decided to try out some software looking specifically for Trojans... so I downloaded a bunch of "30 day trials"

First, from standard XP boot I ran the following program, one after another --and QUARENTINED OR DELETED EACH MALWARE OR TROJAN AS IT WAS FOUND --SO ALL THESE PROGRAMS WERE FINDING DIFFERENT TROJANS

Some were pretty nasty (like SoftWAR.... didn't keep the list, but they weren't "friendlies" they were hostile) others were merely spyware

Anyway.....

System Mechanic 6 pro -- found 1
Adaware --found 2
SpybotSD --found 1
The Cleaner --found 1
ewido -- found 2
Trojan Hunter --found 2
Tauscan --found 0 (not full scan)
a2hijackfree -- gave me a list of rootkits to look at

Then I booted into safe mode, I didn't run everything this time through

Adaware --found 1
Trojan Hunter -- found 0
ewido -- found 0

Three problems at least were directly from google toolbar --now fully removed from my system, and I'm dumping gmail entirely

I can only suggest that you like to party, use a condom, and --based on my findings-- it's probably safest to wear two or three (or four) at a time

And wash your disk regularly, particularlry if you like to exchange bits and bytes with strangers.

Also..... if I was a shitty guy.... and wanted to plant crap like this on your system.... First place I'd think to hide it in an anti-virus/ anti-spyware/anti-malware, or "drive management/imaging" software ISO

Not the only place I'd pick to sneak something in -but the most obvious....

## BTW: This computer is less than three weeks old
