twisterfries,

Are you considering a shared hosting plan or a dedicated server? Usually sites that have a lot of downloadable stuff, like videos, require high amounts of bandwidth. From our experience, 1000GB bandwidth is more than enough for 99% of people. What is your URL?

Well OK, either way... bandwidth is the amount of data that can be downloaded in a specific period of time. If a hosts offers you 100GB of bandwidth, then people can download 100GB worth of your site per month. Anything past that you have to pay overage charges. It's a different concept than data transfer, which is how much of a download takes place per unit of time. For example, 10 mb/s.

Be careful though, make sure you read the TOS because some hosting companies might offer you say 20GB of bandwidth (or even unlimited) but they really only offer like 18GB of text transfer and 2GB of image/media transfer. So make sure you check that out. And I'm just throwing numbers out as an example, obviously no one's going to give you 20GB of bandwidth and only give you 2GB of image/media transfers (though I'm sure I could be wrong!).
