Recommendation for next level of hosting?

Hello all, I hope I am in the right area here. I am hoping that I can get a little guidance from some of the more experienced webmasters out there. Currently my setup is one dedicated server with cpanel. I will be doubling the number of sites I am hosting within a month or so, and am looking for advise on the best upgrade path to provide a better service.

I can be way off base here, but I am guessing the next step is to cluster? Should I get another dedicated server to handle only the databases? Or, should I get another one to mirror content in case one goes down? Any advice would be much appreciated!
