Default Help, first time hosting!!

I am starting out with web design and hosting,I am currently studying from home, and consider myself am intermediate developer.
I have developed a small personal site, and I am hosting with webfusion.
I have used Filezilla as my FTP client, and successfully uploaded my site and all is/was well.
I have been experimenting with my latest study subject Perl.
I have followed a tutorial showing me how to set up my own Perl script on my site.
The problem is, I have created a cgi-bin file and placed my Perl.cgi file within, the tutorial asked me to set the file attributes of the Perl file to "755" to allow me control over the file and others no access.
Anyway the experiment failed and the script did not work, so I need to delete the cgi-bin directory and start again, unfortunately I cannot delete the cgi-bin directory?? or any of the files within individually.
I still have access and rights over all the other files except this one.
How do I delete these files?
Would it be a setting in my FTP client software, or is it a problem with my hosting server.
I have tried to change the file attributes again but to no avail, I am told "Access denied"....help please

Sometimes FTP clients show unexpected behaviour.
Try another one, CuteFTP for example.

One of the best FTP programs out.. On my oppinion is FlashFXP its very slick and can basicly handle anything... If nothing works google search it and try it.

Try contacting your host and have them delete it.

You should change the permissions on the cgi-bin dir and all its contents to 777 then try and delete it. If that dosent work try and delete the contents only first then the dir. Sometime the webserver wont let you delete it and protects it.
