How Much Money To Start up a Host?

When I started my host I definetly underestimated how much money it would take. For those of you who do own servers, whether it be a reseller or dedicated server, how much do you think a person should have put away to start off their company?

I think the cheapest way I found for a start up is to run your own systems from your home on a business class dsl plan if it is available in your area. You would need to have either linux or windows server experience too.

I ran two servers from my home for 3 years and had around 240 clients. I think I was paying $70 a month from speakeasy.net The business plan allows you static ip's which is essential for hosting. I'm not sure if a reseller or dedicated server can beat that cost.

If you don't have at least $60.00 a month, then I wouldn't jump head first into it. You need to have room for any errors, or repairs that you may have throughout your entire process.

I know you will need at least $60 to cover the basic server costs and other costs, but it is good to have access to $100 a month to cover other luxurious expenses that would increase sales in the long run. You need to have things other hosting companies don't.

The cheapest I know if your hosting your domain of your own is $2 only.Thats for the registration and the hosting of your site.Theyre doing this nowadays.

I did start my site with an initial payment of $20.But the bills keep on coming because I always upgraded my site for development.I know in future I can earn more from this.
