Dial in to remote access a PC

I hope this is the correct forum for this problem, apologies if it isn't.

At present, I can easily remote access my server, using RDC, as both the server and my PC are permanently connected to the Internet. I connect to other PC's using UltraVNC but again, both are permanently connected to the Internet. I have a need to remote access a PC that is connect to the normal phone line via an ordinary 56K modem. This remote PC is not permanently connected to the Internet, I need to be able to dial into this remote PC as and when necessary. There is nobody physically near this PC so it cannot be connected from that end.

Has anyone had this problem and, if so, what's the solution? I've looked at PC Anywhere but it's expensive and a number of people on the forums seem to prefer VNC.

I highly recommend tightVNC myself for VNC software, but without having the computer connected all the time it's going to be nearly impossible.
