Default Reseller or Dedicated

Reseller,you sell they manage
Dedicated, you sell you manage and you get more $$$

Well... there are so many hosts that would it be more reliable if you have your own dedicated or co-lo server? Because anyone with a dedicated server can make reseller accounts. maybe resellers making reseller accounts!

Any views on this?

Not everyone can handle a dedicated server even if they have the money :P
I would suggest a reseller if the technical side is not always the better part of you

I would start out on a reseller account. It's a painful process, paying over the odds for space, not having total control of the server and so forth but if things go wrong, you have someone to go to.

Dedicated, you are generally on your own without a management package, and even those aren't guaranteed. However, if you have experience with servers and have already gotten a customer base together dedicated is the way to go. Far more powerful, far more options and much more cost effective.

Having hosted people on reseller, dedicated and colocation, I would say that Reseller > Dedicated > Colo is the way to go.

Dedicated does not make your more money, necessarily. Because they cost a lot more, and like others mentioned, if they aren't managed it will cost a lot to do the technical stuff (unless you do it yourself). There's also the option of a VPS, which is like a shared dedicated server I think? Im not sure, but its in between the two.

If your client database are not so big then I suggest you to go for Reseller plan first. When your client database increase's then go for Dedicated Server.

>>VPS means Virtual Private Server. It is just like dedicated server shared by more client. Here each client have some dedicated space for use. VPS generally come with OS only. Here you have SSH so you can test application in Live Enviorment and install anything by yourself.

Dedicated doesn't guarantee more money, but you have the potential to over a reseller account. After all, I have a dedicated server with cPanel etc, pay around $50 a month for it and I think 80GB of space is more for my cash than I would get from a lot of reseller accounts.

Uptime is pretty good too, only complaint is no Fantastico, but I can't have it all for nothing can I

Agree with the guys above, test the water with a reseller account unless you know you have a large customer base, less of an investment, less commitment if it doesn't work out and so forth.
