Default The crap about 100% uptime anyone still uses them?

Does anyone know of companines still using the 100% uptime thing to "cheat" their customers?
Even if you reboot your server once a week you could still easily meet the 99.9% mark...

But some people just don't understand...

I don't really know...
But even ever I see 100% uptime, its blacklist for me :P
No one and I will say again NO one can give you that.
Even if he does a Loadbalancer act with 10,000 w UPS units and with 10 servers mapping each other and with DNS fail over plus immediate kick in routers when one fail.

There is still a slight possibility if failure because things are unpredictable. Nothing is 100%

I never believed in that... There can't be something that is 100%
There is always a slight possibility that I get killed by a car when I step on the road. Rare but it could happen.
So there is no 100% assurance that I would get home alive.

thats just some marketing gimick.

Ye I agree. I made this thread because I hope those that don't know about this are informed and would not fall for this overly done strategy that marketers use.

Who knows maybe the next one will be 101% uptime

I agree they may try hard to provide 100% uptime, but it does not mean that your site will be available 100% of the time. No and I do mean no web host can absolutely and honestly state that they will provide 100% availability because all servers need to be rebooted occasionally, have preventative maintenance performed, and because servers and isp networks have hardware and software so they may occasionally fail. I accept 98-99% uptime.

Not to mention sometimes the DNS rout breaks or there is a short surge of a few micro seconds when the server loses your ping to it.
What if a NIC card burns out? Or if they have to change HDDs?

Quite impossible unless upi used what augustine suggested... But are you willing to pay hundreds or thousands a month for that kind of setup?

Not really realistic is you ask me...
