I thought I'd start a thread on recommended hosts...tell us what hosts you've used and why you like them.

My only experience with a host was www.asmallorange.com hosting, and to be honest, they have just about everything I'd look for in a hosting company. The biggest thing that's good about them has got to be their support - it's truly fantastic. They team is strong and doesn't get impatient if your a beginner. And best yet, they reply in a timly manor - often in a few minutes or less.

Their only "con" that I can think of at this point is that sometimes their server gets too busy, unless you have a dedicated server.

But overall I would truly recommend them.

I've used asmallorange hosting before and I'll also vouche for their quality and speed in technical support (amougst other things). They'll answer you right away, and they (at least appear) to genuinely care about satifying their customers.

I've also used godaddy - they're decent. They have their limits though - but I tend to use them for more domain - related activity.

I personally haven't used godaddy. They have too many restrictions for me. But everyone I know that's used them seems to like them, so perhaps I'll give them a try eventually for my next site/project.

Although I currently have no need for webhosting, the two webhosts that I have been looking at are Site5.com and Hostgator.com

From a different web forum that I frequent often, they seem to be a top 10 cosensus for being a quality web host provider.

They are both really reliable servers that I have worked with previously, and they are both fairly low in cost.

I recommend http://www.mediatemple.com, although i've haven't personally been hosted with them yet. I've heard fantastic and wonderful things about them, they are realiable and trustworthy and have support when you need it. Most professional graphic sites are hosted by them. They do cost a lot, but they are well worth it.

I think magicomm and surpasshosting are the best, i never tried them.. but from research and reviews, they seem really reliable.
