Default How to determine a hosts speed?

I know it's 2 posts in the same area, but I don't want either question to be overlooked.

I want a website to hold video and audio files, alot of them. So I need speed, I want it to be loaded as fast, if not faster than youtube, if possible. How do you determine whether or not a host will be that fast or not. Is it internet speed? Is the only thing that determines the speed of the server the location? What kind of server specs would I be looking for in order to get a server that hosts as fast as youtube? Are regular web hosting companies sufficient? or is there some like "industrial web hosting"?

You can ping the host's IP as well as get a test file to download.

There are the following sits that can help to determine the speed:

alertra.com and anonymization.net

You can try them in case there are some problems with the host and your site is slow.

So you're hosting videos? You'll eventually need a VPS web hosting plan or a dedicated server. Cheap shared hosting might be ok to start with but you'll want to upgrade if it's a busy site.

You might want to look at FFmpeg web hosting plans which are ideal for hosting video sharing sites.

dedicated would be the way to go if you wanted the dedicated server for a long time if not then go either VPS or upload them to a third party site
