What are some ways to boost the alexa ranking of a site?

I'm at @ 433,000 in the US, I write content, update often, outsourced some articles, plug into social media, started doing some backlinking...

I'd like to break the 100,000, but I hear it doesn't even have to do with traffic necessarily? Some lower traffic sites rank higher?

I've seen people selling "25,000 visitors" to your site on Fiverr.Com and wonder if that could help, or if that's just a waste of $5!

What are your thoughts?
