Stuck with Work in Linux Platform

I recently switched to a new machine for carrying out my application. The platform used is Linux. But I am facing a major problem which has lowered my work pace.

The problem I am facing is the GRUB password to my system has been changed by someone and added to this, the person has also changed the root password. Kindly help me crack this problem and move into my system for working.

This is maddening!! How do I protect my system from unauthorized usage like this in future?

You could place in a livecd and edit grub this way, once you have access to grub you should be able to use the rescue mode to get access to the root account. For more details I would recommend just doing a google search.

i dont think it is possible to crack a root password in linux. why not try reinstalling everything back?
