Hmm, I have never had any problems except viruses with any of my computers I have had.. I guess you just have bad luck! HAH!

So basically, nothing internal has gone wrong with any of my computers!

Talking Re: Is Dell really a good computer?

I have a dell, one year old. The only problem I have had to the printer. The black ink isnt working. That's it. We just have to get a great software to protect while we're online. A friend told me about Notorn. My 2 cents..... DELL is okay.

Thanks

If you're lazy or completely clueless, then a Dell may be for you, but I would never buy a pre-built computer.

While I have heard this recently, I have also heard that this is false because the big manufacturers can simply bulk buy parts and put it together cheaper than you can. I dont know how they manage to weasel enough money out of these bulk buys to make up for labor, but this is what I have heard from quite a few friends.

Of course, if you plan to upgrade your computer dont buy one, make one. This lets you know exactly what you have and lets you avoid compatibility issues. Personally I would not go with a dell, however I have had good experiences with Hewlett-Packard in the past (my last computer, about 3-4 years ago).

At the moment I have a dell and it is absolutely pathetic. I have 128 MB ram but 1.8 Ghz. This wasnt a customizable one, I was rather broke and it came like this. I plan to upgrade it soon, but the past 2 sticks of ram I have bought have not worked, even though they were labeled EXACTLY THE SAME THING as what I have now. I dont understand it.

Dell gets from me.

I use a Dell at home and a Mac at work...my Dell is much faster, cost was significantly cheaper, and I have not had a major problem...yet. The Mac, nice looking, but the Entourage email has been problematic and rebuilding that database is pretty common. I'd have no problem upgrading to another Dell.

I'm going to say that Dell is a good computer for being pre-assembled & built. If you don't want to take the time in building a computer yourself, then I say Dell is the best bang for the buck at the moment in computer retail...

Dell skimps on its power supply, so I read somewhere.

I do not think that Dell is a good computer, as there is no upgrading them without purchasing Dell products

Yes to answer your question, however I also do agree with ForumZclub because it also depends on the software you put onto it. It makes a world of difference. So do your homework before you download!

Dells are cheap and fairly good computers; they are by no means powerful gaming systems (Except for the XPS), but they are functional and stable for general use.
