What is sucking my CPU??

I want to display what applications I am running or are running from the command line because preformance is dropping and I keep getting CPU overload, So I would like to find out what is sucking up all the processing power...

What does a TOP command over the shell give you?
You could be hacked or someone is jamming you with a IRC relaying program or using your server to do spam which can eat up a lot of CPU power.

From a shell prompt run the 'top' command.

Hit 'P' (in caps) to sort by CPU usage %.
