Default PCI NCI as eth0?

Today when I installed RH9 to one of my servers with 2 Network Interface cards something strange happened... The onboard NIC read as eth1 and the PCI NIC read as eth0! Is that suppose to happen? Because I got another one which read the other way round. Anyway to check what is happening or to know which is using which in the future when I do an installation again?

This could be the config on your BIOS. There should be a name on your PCI card and when you are told to set it it should show up when you insert it on to your board.
