Default Apache 1.3.x and 2.x? Whats the diff?

Whats the difference between these two?
I heard that 1.3 was more stable and a lot of people are refusing to change to 2.x unless it came with the OS.

I guess it would depend on what you are installing. If the OS came with it, might as well use it rather than going all the way to install another version.
But I don't really see a difference between the both. I have also seen people still using the 1.3.x for some reasons and are refusing to shift.

Hi,

I agree that you may wish to stick with what the original provided. Some people that where running 1.3x won't upgrade because of the issues with IPv4 vs IPv6. The problem is Apache 2.0 supports IPv6 automatically.

What I had to do to make Apache 2.0 use IPv4. was use the * specifier throughout the httpd file to specify IP addresses with every vhost. This will cause the server to bind to the same port on all addresses.

Regards

Unless its a forced change, like what Microsoft does. BY XXX Date and XXX Month will will terminate all suppoert for version XXX.

It could take a long long time since version 4 is not really obsolute yet.
