I know quite a bit when it comes to softwares, but close to nothing about hardwares.
I need affordable but durable hard disk. What should I get?
My PC seem to have slowed down after a hard disk error.
My current hard disk is an 80gig Maxtor.
Its 1st error occurred after 4 years, I think. Is that good enough? What is a good enough service life of a hard disk?
4 years doesnt sound too bad. I bought a Seagate 250gb a little while back and it crashed after a few months. Luckily they have a 5 years manafacturers warranty, so I got it replaced for nothing, but I lost heaps of data.
I recommend Western Digital as being one of the most reliable hard disks, even if not the fastest. I am sure that you are looking for reliability more than speed so feel free to let your data safe on a WD hdd
My friend i think you must first of all take into consideration. If it is compatible then you must buy a hard disk with 7200 rmp or 10000. these have very high speed. And to me Maxtor is the very best in course of durability.
