looking for a "forum" type software

I am new to webmaster's world. I would like to host a web site that provides "forum" function similar to that of Yahoo!Answer. As a social engineering tool, I found that Yahoo!Answer is quite successful in getting viewers to participate.

Is anyone aware of such open source/commercial software (preferrably written in php)?

Well, the closest software that I know of is this AlstraSoft AskMe Pro - Start your very own Google Answers in minutes. Expert advice script. Might want to check that out.
