I want to know which is better in terms of simplicity. I myself use frontpage now and have never tried dreamweaver, I heard that it is a good software for a more advanced site, but does that mean that it's harder to use? I don't have anyone to teach me, so i learn by myself, not to mention that I'm 14 years old, so plz I need advice

I do believe Dreamweaver is pretty much a standard for page building so I'd probably start learning it if you have an interest in this kind of stuff.

I was never a fan of frontpage and used notepad instead to create sites. Download the dreamweaver trial version to get a feel for it (Macromedia - Dreamweaver 8)
but I'd presonnally recommend using it (again, that is if you want to pursue this field)

It's a big program though, I'm quite certain I only use 10% of what it can actually do. I mainly use it because it's easier to look at longer code, highlights mistakes and such, and I can see what the page sorta looks like in the split view.

As far as ease of use. For a very basic site I think it's pretty easy. Again, I'd try that trial version and maybe look up a tutorial on the net.

lol, thanx for ur time, and by the way.. I have dreamweaver, i just didnt know how to use it, I guess I'll use your advice and look for some tutorials

Dreamweaver has endless possibilities, and its the best software to use for web design. At first I thought I was hard learning dreamweaver, but after learning a little on my own then taking a course its so simple.


I recommend you read some books from lynda.com, those books should help you the most with dreamweaver.

The basis of the differences is simply the intended target audience and usage. For dreamweaver;

professional DESIGNERS are taken into account do to its close integration with photoshop and fireworks.

CSS is also much more readily supported within dreamweaver.

FLASH and SHOCKWAVE are included as natively important within dreamweaver

as well as a simple and efficient layout.

for frontpage;

It is designed to be used stand alone with no graphics package. This seems to give the impression that designers were not taken into account.

frontpage is very SIMPLE to use and contains wizard and template functions.

Personally I go for dreamweaver, although that is simply because I need to integrate and to my knowledge frontpage doesn't work with ubuntu.

Dreamweaver! Definately. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be happy you went for Dreamweaver instead of Frontpage. It's much more flexible.

I have taught web design for many students. I confess I only taught them MS FrontPage. As a WYSIWYG editor it had certain possibilities. Most of my students were graphic oriented and they liked Dream Weaver and I could not show any thing better with MS Front Page. I don't believe FrontPage was as good as Dream Weaver. However Microsoft's .NET 2.0 is awsome. Now you will not hear of its predecessor Visual Interdev. Especially with the AJAX support and the CLR; its integration with SQL 2005 server; the plug-ins from literally 100's of software vendors, it is going to stay for a long time. It was unfortunate it did not adopt the SVG for its graphics. That would have made it more universal.

Coming back to the question which is better, FrontPage or DreamWeaver. I must say my vote is for Dream Weaver.

Seems like Dreamweaver is winning hands down here.
Given that MS Expression Web now available for users of FrontPage
and it supports Web standards such as Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML), cascading style sheets (CSS), and Extensible Markup Language (XML)...is Expression not a really good alternative?
