Default Help with web design on ms Frontpage

Ok i have a few problems designing my site with frontpage (www.simcards-r-us.co.uk)

1. Is there a way to make the bit containing the logo, home, view cart, and the simcards, lighters etc always change on all the pages if i edit it on one of the pages

2. Is there a way of just clicking in ms frontpage and then it automaticaly updates and uploads the files.

3. is there a better program to use than frontpage for my site.

Thanks Ben

1. Use PHP. By including a file named for example "menu.php"...

PHP Code:
include ("menu.php");

you can edit just one file named "menu.php" containing your menu script and as a result, everywhere the include statement appears, the menu is the same.

2 and 3. Dreamweaver has a "Sync" button that checks-in and checks-out the files on and off the server.

Use the Macromedia Dreamweaver, it has a lot features that you can use for your web application. MS Front page has limited features

By using PHP (easily done for simple uses like this) as akinto2006's suggestion, you have the best, lighter, faster solution for you navigation and constant elements. Change it once, it changes everywhere you use the include.

By the way, you can use it (just as simply) all over your web site, not only for the menus but much more. Makes your life so much easier and you learn a new "language". Add a bit of database and you've got yourself something solid.

As far as Frontpage goes, it is simply not that good a tool. Dreamweaver is a bit better if you REQUIRE WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). You could do even better with a "manual" too like UltraEdit32 (or equivalent quality text/code editor) and you'll truly learn/understand the code not just generate it + you have 100% control over said code, no need to clean up after as you WILL have to do after using a WYSIWYG tool.

Ciao.

there are only I0 types of people. Those who do and those who dont... understand binary.

While I can't help you with frontpage, I do offer some advice. Switch to dreamweaver.
