I wouldn't say link building...you can call online promotion instead.
So keep on doing that and the site will give good results.

I think you are talking about social networking sites like twitter. So i would like to say that you are absolutely right because i receive also good amount of traffics due to twitter and other social networking sites like facebook, myspace etc.
