If you have clients, do you also take care of hosting their website? If yes, how? Reseller accounts? Dedicated servers?

It is usually not necessary for a web designer to offer web hosting to their clients unless it is required by the clients to do so. Unless you want to offer a end-to-end solution which involves web hosting, web design, and web promotion, most web designers would just be designing a website based on the clients' specifications.

I have found that when I deal with customers it's important to take into account their own particular level of tech knowledge. If it seems that the client isn't quite with it then I make sure i have a couple of providers I can resell through (& pull a profit!).

Some clients like to just "Get a website", so I make sure i can provide a turnkey solution to make it easier for them - in the end they appreciate it.

Eurofreelancer -- First, your website looks very nice. Second, so for the less tech knowledgeable clients, you also help them get hosted through reseller accounts, but you don't do it for everyone, correct? Do you offer to everyone to get them hosted or only if they ask something along the lines of, what next? I am trying to get a feel for how webmasters deal with their clients' hosting needs.

Normally a webdesigner just designs the website as the client wants to... If the client wants a hosting account that can surely be arranged (reseller accounts, where do you get those btw) but only if they ask for it...

At least that is what the clients I have want and that is what they get...

A lot of my clients had no idea even that a website needed to be hosted. I first started out with a reseller account, and added new client sites that did not have a hosting preference. When I outgrew my reseller account I got a dedicated server because I needed more control over the system. I also wanted to upgrade to PHP5. Now, I occasionally turn down work that is not going to be hosted by myself because I just can't wait around for other hosts to get things installed like an SSL cert or whatever else needs to happen.

I have my own dedicated server with www.netbenefit.com its a good price, When My Clients ask for me a design i let them choose if they want me to host it for them and take care of the space. Or send the site to them in a ZIP most ask for the ZIp and dont know what to do/ how to upload ect... so they change and host with me as they are mainly n00bs and i have won over their trust i can normaly get good money from them. I have no packages or anything Ijust dissuss their needs.
