Best colors to use.......

What are the best colors to use for a professional looking website. Are there programs out there that help you match up unvisted link/visited link/text/etc colors. Sometimes I have a hard time doing that myself.

Color plays a very important role on a site's presentation and the impact it will obtain from its visitors.
It's hard to suggest specific colors, however, it would be easier to say which colors you should stay away from.
-Yellow causes eyestrain, so try to stay away from it.
-Black backgrounds might not work sometimes, they might limit your text color to white and yellow.
-White backgrounds seem to work pretty well with users, it's not hard on the eyes and text color is not as limited.

for newbies sometimes it best to find a site online that you really like, color wise, and use similar if not the same colors that site has. There is also a great online tool here that can help you come up with color schemes. So if you find one color you like take the numbers, ex #EEEEEE, and paste into into the right box and wa-la you have several colors that go well with that particular color
