Default embedded .mov plays locally, not from server... whyyyyy?!

I have a Quicktime file that stops working when uploaded to the server!

Everything checks out fine when I view the page locally. The embedded video auto-starts without any problems. However, once I make the page and video file live, everything just breaks. I get a hanging Quicktime logo and the video never starts.

I enabled Fast Start when I encoded the video, but the result I get is "no start".
Furthermore, I have almost a dozen other videos that I encoded with the same QT Pro settings that work flawlessly both locally and when made live. I thought maybe that specific file was corrupt, so I re-encoded and re-uploaded... same problem! The only difference I can tell between the files that work and the ones that don't is the length. Working ones are about a minute and the one failing is about 6 min.

Doesn't matter which browser I use. Tested in Firefox and Safari so far, getting the same results.

What the hell is going on?! Any ideas?

Default Re: embedded .mov plays locally, not from server... whyyyyy?!

More info:

What seems to be happening is that it is trying to download the entire file before playing it. In other words, Fast Start isn't working.

While I stare at the blank box with the QT logo in it, Firefox indicates in the bottom left status area that it is getting data. All 68MB of it, apparently. The smaller (4 to 6 MB) files start instantly.

Maybe I need to compress it even more... but logically if the compression settings I used for the smaller files was sufficient, shouldn't it work with the larger one too?
Is not the point of Fast Start to allow large files to quickly begin playing so you don't have to wait?
Am I crazy?
