Anyone here used GIMP? I've heard many good things about it, and how it's just like Adobe Photoshop, but a free alternative. If you've used it, what's your experience with it? Does tutorials for Photoshop apply to Gimp as well?
Most graphic programs are somewhat similiar, just maybe some icon position difference or maybe a different name for that feature.
Rough concepts are the same.
I tried gimp and didn't really like it. Couldn't get certain features to work. Vectors would slow my computer way down. So I downloaded photoshop cs2 and it works great. I know gimp is free but I got photoshop cheap.
Had a look at GIMP and at first it doesnt looks much different than photoshop. Must say that the open source community is really coming out with some good products.
GIMP is pretty decent, but it's still no Photoshop. It can probably do at least 60% of what Photoshop can do, though. Hey, if you don't have Photoshop, just download GIMP, it's pretty nice.
Never heard of GIMP, but from what I'm hearing it's a lot like Photoshop. But according to what kelp said, it's not worth getting if you already have Photoshop (and I do have Photoshop, great program).
Definitely the good thins is you wont spend any penny for this software.Pocketfree.LOL.the quality is much similar. But I think the key to a good photo editing software is a good designer.
I find GIMP to be a very good grahpics program , im not any good with graphics or anything all i really use it for is resizing or small edits. They haven't made a Photo Shop for linux yet so i have to stick with GIMP but i like it , it does what i want it to do
