Default Which is the best for a newbie

I would like to design my own web site. Which is easier to use frontpage or dreamweaver. Keep in mind I am a novice and want to get my site live within a month or so. They both seem to have there good and bad points but which is EASIER to learn. I am willing to buy either but I need to have fairly quick professional results.

Thanks

I like dreamweaver better, but I think frontpage was easier to learn for me as it was like microsoft word but for websites.

To get a profesional look for your website download a template from a free "website template" site and then just modify the text on it. There's so many templates out there that no one should mark you down for it.

As FrontPage has matured through the years the quality of HTML code it produces has improved. However, one limitation still exists: FrontPage produces redundant code.

For the sake of having quick loading webpages, and simply because I am just very anal about my code being very clean, I highly recommend Dreamweaver over FrontPage.

I'm not exactly experienced in coding, but I suggest you use Dreamweaver. I agree with stainofmind. Redundant code is a pain. Dreamweaver does produce cleaner codes, which saves a lot of time, and makes things more operational.

Personally I would suggest making the site from raw coding - it's much more useful to do it yourself as opposed to using some sort of editor. If not that, I would suggest using/hiring a web designer. But if for some reason, you can't or don't wish to do one of these, then the third thing to do would be to use FrontPage or DreamWeaver.

From my experience, Frontpage is a much more simpler program, and can cause some trouble at times. However, I would still recommend FrontPage as opposed to Dreamweaver if you only need it for a few times to use, FrontPage is probably better. It's somewhat cheaper and generally used more by novices.

Now Dreamweaver is a bit more advanced from what I hear. (though I haven't used it - I admit). However, every one I've spoken to who uses it tends to stick with it.

It really depends on the amount of effort you're willing to invest, how easy you learn, and which is more prefferable to your taste.

Raw coding from Notepad would be good if you are familiar with the code.
If not I suggest DreamWeaver too

I would prefer DreamWeaver too but most of the time if a simple job I would load notepad or wordpad.
Sometimes your server scrambles up the code and then there are no more enters or tabs but wordpad decodes it properly

Well I went for Dreamweaver and it works great on my new Mac and I am starting to see progress after a week or so of learning the software.

Thanks for the replies..

I also prefer using dreamweaver since it is more friendly than frontpage..
