Default Article Length

Hey everybody,
I am in the process of writing (and re-writing) an article for the web which is already over 2300 words and still going. I have had a [not quite so] long article before, and just broke it into two pages.

I am considering one of the following:

1) Break the article into several one-page article-ettes?

2) Use <-Previous & Next-> buttons and brake it into a multi-page article?

3 Write the whole thing on one page with several id/name and "back to the top" links.

Input? Please? I usually don't top 1,000 words in an article so I'm just wondering what the general rule was for this situation.

Thanks.
ASOL

2300 words would be long for a blog post. Beside being on the web, what kind of content or where would the content go?

Hi asol

It depends on what is the nature of your website. Camp185 is right, if it is a blog type content, then its too long, but it is like a general information blah blah kind of site, it is advisable to put page breaks(<<back | next>>). If it is a news type, have it in pdf format then present only the abstract or the overview of the article or yet put read more link into it and present only a overview.

Just remember to make your content simple as always coz you dont want to bore your guests.

Regards.

The best idea would be to break down the article into maximum 500 words pages. Nobody will actually read that much, really! People on the internet these days come and go fast. break it down in pieces.

people tend to skim over articles on the net so i wouldnt make it too long, if you do break it up over a couple of pages that way you can inculed more adwords and banners etc

Asol,
I'd break the article up into 3 parts. If the content is good, readers will come back to read the other parts.
Part 1 should have a teaser at the end to maintain interest in Part 2 and so on.
