Default How do I create a "viewable" shopping cart?

My client wants his online customers to be able to see a linear, visual representation of ALL of the objects (such as photo thumbnails) in their shopping carts. For example, this client sells an extensive variety of photographs of individual letters that can be grouped together to spell out words (e.g. their last names.) He would like the customer to be able to see how their chosen letters would look grouped together in a line before completing their purchase. Does anyone know how this could be done or where I could look further for options? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
