I focus more on building links to draw traffic and to help in SERP as well. Here is what I have been doing recently:


Directory Submissions - targeted links at high PR directories
Blog and Forum participation - to high PR and frequently crawled sites
Social Bookmarking - for boosting traffic
Article Marketing - submit to high PR directories, could also serve as link baits
Link Exchange - with relevant and authority sites
Link Baits - for organic linking

I have been using all of these methods and they give good results for my site and blog...

Thanks for this important info. One thing I wanna added... Froogle posting is also a good method for gaining traffic, which provide high conversation ratio to the site as well.

Here are my tips to get more traffic:

- add your site to search engines and directories like DMOZ.
- participate in forums( like forums.digitalpoint.com) with your link in the signature.
- exchange links with high page rank sites and blogs.
- participate in adsense revenue-sharing forums(like DP) and sites(like Flixya.com)
- comment (put your link in the comment) in high page rank blogs.
