Default Expanding to different languages

Hey everyone,

I've recently been thinking about expanding into non English markets. I have a website that is largely image based, and images are pretty much universal. I would have to translate less than 200 phrases for the whole site.

Has anyone tried expanding into different language markets? I'm not sure which non English countries have the largest internet audience. I've thought of China and India as possible countries to expand into simply due to their large population and good economic growth.

Then there's the issue of getting back links for keywords in that language. That is something I can't imagine myself doing without having a good understanding of the language.

Anyways, what are your thoughts about expanding an image-based website into multiple languages?

No, not yet. For non-English countries, i suggest Spanish countries or Mexican countries, and yeah China would be a good one.

Good point there! So you better start studying those languages you intend to use.

That would be great i think! Expanding your target is quiet tedious but i think it will pay off soon..
