Hi Hannah
On page optimization is what SEO is partly about you have the answer for off-page, on page is just the opposite bit, its what best practises to use for the optimisation of the content and HTML structure of your site like keywords, title tags, h1tags all these things affect how SE look and rank your pages for your chosen terms you want to be found for.
Hope that helps

to do this have the keywords used in your page frequently(at least 4 times). have your top key word in your title. also have your first in description. Your title tag relavancy is the biggest part of the SEO. Make sure it reflects your keywords and page content. Also remember google uses your top three keywords more. Keep these detailed to not cars, reviews, free. But instead free car reviews. This way you have a chance to get a good spot on the listings.

I read some where that two keywords is more than enough. Is this true?

no. Many searh engines still use all meta so if you only use 2 keywords you will only show up if someone searches for one of those two.

Well most people reffer to blackhat SEO as spamming and cheating and i don't know about redhat. I know red hat is a linux though.
But don't use black hat tactics. Googls, Yahoo, and other search engines will black list you and you won't be able to be indexed by them

White Hat SEO: White hat SEO is the ethical methods through which a web site can gain long term results. White hat SEO improves visibility of the site.

Black hat SEO: This is unethical implementation of SEO technique which can yields quick short term results. When the search engine finds out unethical implementation of SEO techniques on the site there is a large possibility of the site getting banned from SERP’s.

I read this in a site.

Cheers

On page website optimization is mainly about having good titles, headers and keyword rich content. I have written an article about on page website optimization.
