Digg / News or write a blog about it

maybe get a myspace revolving around it, and make your profile public.

Note: if you do use Digg.com, make sure you have a good story or something cool/fascinating, or you will be dugg down and never see the light of day on that site again. They love to ridicule people, so dont make yourself a target

I personally hate websites that open pages in new windows as well. Such things should only be used when absolutely necessary.
External links only.....

I have asked the folks here at www.webmasterforums.com to delete this post but for some reason they refuse to do so. this is obviously the wrong place to ask for HELP with Site Promotion as most readers (99.3%) of this site obviously don't read the posts before posting and are only interested in adding their links. three reply post are great offering intelligent advice from informed readers ..but most of these replies have nothing to do with the question I asked... oh-well I tried....

Hi,
Sorry you are disappointed with the 'quality' of replies to your post.
I think the best thing to remember is that many people here will have lots of experience in website promotion and so what they are telling you IS relevant. Sometimes it is hard to take criticism of anything, especially something which you have put a lot of physical, mental and emotional effort into but asking for a review of your site and suggestions mean you need to develop a thick skin, and take on board what people say. It is no use disregarding valuable information just because it hurts a bit.

As for the actual advice you are looking for - I am not all that experienced at this but I would say from a layman's point of view that your customers will want to find a site that is pleasing on the eye, easy to navigate and offers them something. This could be cheap prices for one, a 'buy in' to your concept, an affinity to you (and your backstory) etc.

Have a look at your site from your customer's point of view.

Personally, as a customer I would prefer to see a simple front page with not too much going on. An introduction to the site, a little about you and your 'dream' or concept and a lead in to a menu where you could navigate from.

I am getting the same problems as other with this site - links opening in new windows (a bit annoying), inconsistent colour scheme between pages, not enough info.

I think you are trying to cover too much with not enough explanation. for example what is the purpose of your forum to a new visitor? Perhaps introduce it on your front page.

I hope you take this well as it is genuinely meant to be constructive and helpful. Yes I know I am no expert and my sites are probably not the best in the world but that is why I am here and when the time comes for me to ask for help, I will listen carefully to anything that is said. If I can take anything for other's advice and it improves my traffic/search ranking/income then it is best to swallow my pride and make the necessary changes.

Good luck and sorry for such a long post.

Sorry, just another quick point.
I have just been back to the site and noticed that spelling and grammar could be a bit better.
This is not a criticism of YOU but it makes the SITE look less professional and could damage your traffic and customer opinion.

For example one of your pages has a wrong name on the menu button and file name - it should be 'inspiration'. It would be a good idea to triple check your spelling as it could be that you mis-spell a vital keyword which means you don't rank so high for a certain phrase at the engines.

Speaking as me as a customer of any website - if there are obvious mis-spellings on a site I am unlikely to buy as if they can't spell right what chance is there of getting my order right? Don't give potential customers easy reasons for not buying or clicking the Back button. It only takes a few seconds to use a spell checker.
