Default Google Adwords for Startup businesses

I'm not really bigtime when it comes to web design, but my friend and I are starting a small store, and we were looking at maybe doing google adwords so we could get more site specific. We're selling a new kind of beach towel that we recently got the patent on, and we have all sorts of designs. We were thinking maybe we could keep cost down if we only payed for really specific searchwords, but that doesn't make sense because people aren't really going to be searching for "Trendy Design Beach towels from Chicago" or anything like that, and I mean if we tried to pay for "Beach Towels" or "Trendy Beach Towels", then we might end up paying without seeing profits. Are the Days of putting specific header information over, as far as search engines go? Any suggestions would help.
Thanks,

Tony

Here is my 2 cents... (i am not an expert in this field...)

First of all, the standard SEO technique still works, and its a MUST (for example, a descriptive title, valid content...)

For adword, my suggestion is that you can set the daily limit to something you can afford for a small test campaign and see how the search words / click through rate works for you.

If you are looking for sales, have you thought of selling them on ebay, amazon, froogle? so that your products can get more exposure?

Hope this help...

I would try to find a vendor for your products, via auction houses, amazon etc. I would also try to set up a website dedicated to "funky towels"...where users can search yahoo and go to your page. You can sell your towel there too. Do not limit your sales to google adwords
