Default WebRings, Good or Bad?

Hi,

I wanted to have your opinions of joining webrings. Did anyone get good traffic from joining a webring?
I would like to join one but don't like having to put their nasty code on my page. Is it worth it?

Seems to me that the webring benefits itself more than anyone else, makes a site look more like a "hobby" site than one that should be taken seriously

It's okay if someone is creating their own personal webpage to meet new friends, but for a serious site offering a product or service, I say "No way"

webrings are good for finding other websites liek your own to partner with and do joint promotions. not really that good for SEO purposes though.

Tried them and agree with above posters... The nasty code makes your site look cheap.... no real sign ups came from them.
The best use is as mentioned... surf thru them and find sites to link/partner with... not much good for bringing in traffic.
