How in the world do you get Alexa or Google ranked?

My site only got launched 8 days ago but still I'd like to see how I am ranked... Yet when I go to the Alexa or Google ranking system I am not there at all...

I am however indexed by the search engines

being index by search engines doesnt mean your will rank automatically.
Like you said, your site is only 8 days old, in google youll be place in the sandbox for 3 to 6 mons depending on how gain links pointing to your site

For Alexa you need people with the Alexa toolbar installed to surf your site.

People cheat with Alexa. There are some Alexa boosters out there that will get you a pretty decent rating. My friend had one site that was getting very few visitors a day but had excellent Alexa ratings......lol.....

I believe that a lot of hit has to do with backling, sites pointing to yours.

Thatll be key, then the obvious indexing stuff should be in place as well.. Get those seo skills upto speed

to get ranked in alexia their customers witht heir alexia tool bar have to get on your site - so advertise and get in the search engines.

msn.com are usually the first to rank new websites. expect a wait of 8-12 weeks to get in all the search engines though. especially google.
