From what I have read the Sandbox can be avoided to a degree by purchasing a live existing website over 6-9 months old. The sandbox filter seems to affect almost all new websites. If your site is targeting non-competitive keywords and phrases or with less competitive search terms you may avoid the sandbox or at least have a shorter stay.

Buying existing sites is a good idea, but if you change the whole concept and content you can expect to be sandboxed

The only thing you can do when you are in the sandbox is to get links to good and related sites.. I mean start doing your lin building campaign

What is sandbox anyway.Hope someone will tell me about this.This word is pretty interesting.Help me!

This isn't a guaranteed method http://www.domaintools.com/ however it will show you if the domain has been blacklisted.

The other check is direct in google where you do a site:mysite.com command and see if pages are indexed. If they are then you are 90% OK.

You must also remember that google are also a registrar and it is not unknown for them to zero score a domain when ownership changes. This is really important!
