Does anyone else here have a blog? I just started one, and Ive found it easier to promote and get traffic to than a regular site. I'd really recommend having a blog, even for business purposes. And if you do have one, make sure to do the following:

-Fully optomize your page - that means meta tags, bold keywords, h1 tags, keywords throughout your page.

-Ping your site - use pingomatic.com, it helps index your page and any other pages you want indexed, very fast. Use this after every post you make.

-Submit to directories - There are a ton of directories for blogs out there.

-Promote - Using digg.com or a similar site. You can "digg" your own website, and if the users like it, it will be posted on the main page of their site (and send you lots of hits)

-Exchange links - Bloggers are usually pretty cool about exchanging w/ you, and put you on the main page, so its great that we all help each other.

There are easy ways to make money with your blog as well, using crispads.com blogads.com and chitika minimalls...all geared exclusively to blog content.

Kimberwyn, I also have a blog and have done no promoting. I was up at the top of the first page of google though! I guess my keywords just put me there. I also added a cafepress store (free) and am making sales. About two months ago my computer crashed and I fell down googles rankings. But I've updated the blog and I'm heading back up again. I can tell by the sales I'm getting again. You should try adding a cafe shop.

Well i have this blog of mine and i only placed my adsense there, I thought putting some ads there for xtra income

debbiep - Thats awesome! How much traffic do you get though? And whats you url? I like cafe press, I might design a few things in the near future to sell.

Crispads - Ive been testing it for like two weeks and I havent made anything. We have pretty low traffic, 175-250 hits a day, but still that could warrant SOMETHING. Mainly its because I have the codes in pretty bad places I think. But they can also broker sponsorships for you, and if you get one you'd probably make good money.

blogads.com - Still waiting to get a sponsor.

Chitika - I havent tried it yet but Ive heard tons of good about it. Its a pretty cool and innovative idea.

Yeah, Google is always a good idea. I havent made anything w/ that only blog either, unfortunetly.

I've got a blog, and I do pretty much nothing to promote it, other than put it in signatures like here. I don't get very many hits at all, but I get almost 10 comments for some posts and am apparently a Google pagerank 4/10.

I've made only $1.09 for the entire month so far though - Google ads aren't working well for me.

You could create a graphic banner for your blog. Then, put that banner in your signature and get your friends to put the banner in their signature. Also, you could banner exchange with other sites.

Get as many backlinks as you can through personally trading links with other blogs, submitting to directories, and getting your site pinged by blog directories. RSS is a must if you have a blog. RSS is used to syndicate your blog with a whole array of them.
